The lines between NFTs and memecoins are blurring faster than previously thought possible. The very fabric of the metaverse is folding onto itself.
What’s fungible is becoming non-fungible, and vice versa, either through new formats like ERC-404 and SPL-404, or simple airdrops to existing holders.I might do a larger piece on this and what it means for “pure NFTs” in the future, but for now, here are two new Solana drops pushing us further into uncharted territory.
Crypto Boomers will remember Coolman’s Universe, a cozy NFT collection by animator Danny Casale which was very popular during the 2022 “cute meta” (personally I’m trying to forget that era ever happened).
Coolcoin is set to be their first token and the first time they’re launching something on Solana.Sale details are almost as fair as you can get: no presale, contract renounced, LP burned and 0% tax. Details on use cases are limited for now, but it looks like it’s tied to a Wolf of Wallstreet Wasteland project coming in Q2.
One for those who love a good comeback story, however farfetched.
This is an upcoming Western-styled NFT collection by Brazilian artist Igor Jacobe made in collaboration with the team at $HOWDY.
What’s $HOWDY? It’s a coin with a picture of a dog in a cowboy hat. Obviously.
Ok — not the most groundbreaking idea, but they did start off with a creative mechanic by airdropping these Howdy Hat NFTs for free to over 100 Solana communities as part of the initial token allocation, and then funding the LP with the royalties from secondary trading (raising more than $300,000).
Wanted is also being supported by Pop Punk, a creator who broke out earlier this year thanks to his Rubber collection, lending credibility to the art side of things. For those in their Red Dead Redemption phase.
